wonder....

Suddenly paused and think for a while.....man, i really love DANCING!!! wohoo!!!

Neither my dad nor my mom dances. But....me?? A hell lot different from my parents. haha

Wondering...why i like dancing. I felt that, when dancing, i'll just forget about any worries that i'm thinking about. All the stress, all the burden, everything heavy on my shoulder...would just disappear just like.. snap! I'll just feel like..i'm on top of the world.

Besides, when i've accomplished learning any new dance moves or steps, and manage to keep up with the music, it's like, wa lah!!!! SWEET!! An astounding joyfulness would arise and words can't express how happy i am to be able to do what others can do. hehe.

For record, i've manage to learn traditional, latin (cha cha, jive, salsa, waltz, slow rock), and modern dances. Well, just basically, i've learnt most of the basics of those dances. Never thought of reaching the pro stage, but ALWAYS eager to learn something new. Break dance....seems impressive, but have not found ppl to teach yet. The dance that i'm very eager to learn is the 'robot' dance. I think this would be one of the hardest dance because u have to know how to be soft and also hard on your body even at the SAME time. Sounds too typical huh. Sadly, just could not find people who can teach yet.

Would love to join the 'love dancers', which Kwong Wei is joining right now, but...darn....my worst ever time table in Curtin, from Monday till Thursday, my class ends at like, 8 or 9 pm.

Recently, we just had plenty of talented dancers who just joined curtin in the degree July intake. Well, they are much more better dancers, coz they dance since secondary school, while me, just started like...LAST year, when i just joined Curtin. haha. Right now, learning several new dance and... always looking forward to learn more.

Life can be full of surprises

Life is definitely full of surprises. The thought of being a teacher NEVER cross my mind. But now, i'm giving tuition classes at Potential Tuition centre near permai jaya and also home tuition for my friend (starting next week). Well, since i'm having a month holiday. So i'm making myself pretty busy here with this and that. At the same time, earning some pocket $$$. hehe
Btw, it was Khee Hung who handed down the 'tuition post' to me since he'll be in Johor to further his studies.

Other than that, yesterday, after giving tuition class, i'm meeting my friends at Al Fresco (then change to Hot Spot) for some gathering. Ah, i was late coz i was sending one of my students home. Reached destination, rushed up, and to my surprise, there was like 10+ of my friends there (some cam back from overseas). I was touched and flattered when they sang 'happy birthday' to me and a CAKE in front of me. Aiyo....malu la, coz it's the first time my friends gave my a surprise 'party'. Speaking of the cake, it was the best birthday cake i've ever eaten!!

Heh, Cheryl was the one who planned this. What a surprise. haha. Thanks!

Those who were present that night: Zack, Ian, Adrian, Oscar, Mohd Rizal, Guan Thai, Cheryl, Gia Rong, Man Ni, Nellie, Teck Ho, Sean Chuan, and several new friends that i'm not that familiar with. haha.

Thanks my dear friends! For being there to surprise me. lol.

Miri International Jazz Festival (May 12-13 2006)

Once i've heard bout the Miri International Jazz Festival at Park City Everly Hotel during our first CV! meeting, i can't wait to volunteer to help in such events. Hei, this is one of a lifetime chance (or let's just say once a year :p)

Those who helped out in this event (that i knew) are: Zack, Iqbal, Aylwin, Ian, LC, Lionel, Tompoq, Ansovinus and Teck Lim. Zack, Ian, Tompoq, and Ansovinus were given the task of "Gate Keeper", while Me, Iqbal, Aylwin, and Lionel were "Schleppers: carrying bands' stuff", and LC as "Merchandise"

Friday (12 May 2006)

We, the schleppers were suppose to report ourselves for duty at Park City by 10am. This is because the respective bands would start their sound checks and bit of practice from 10.30am till 6.30pm and we are rquired to help (if they need) to carry their music and band stuffs. I, on the other hand, have lecture and tutorial classes in the morning till noon that day, so, i arrived later at around 2pm after lunch, shower, and a bit of packing.

Initially, i have this kind of perspective that we (schleppers) would be doing the hardest work, carrying stuffs, and arrive EARLY for duty, unlike the others, who only need to report in at 5pm.

So, arrived, and met Iqbal, Aylwin and Lionel. And also get to know new friends like Tariq and Joshua. Apparently, for the whole evening, we just sat and enjoy watching the bands practising :p. hehe.

Till evening, rest, dinner, get change into our working attire: A long sleeve black Jazz Festival shirt, dark (preferable) black long pants and black shoes. Why all black?? So that we would not be noticed at the back stage. hahah. jk! Anyways, what i like most is our shirt coz there's this wording which makes it so special : JAZZ CREW. You can't find this shirt elsewhere, except those who are working for this particular occasion.

Anyways, the first band to perform that night was ALL THE BEST (Sarawak). Hmmm, just ok i think, and impressed with the our local pianist. Next was NAH YOUN SUN (Korea/France). The singer was a korean lady who did not succeed much in her acting career and moved into the singing industry, and bloom from then on. I must admit, her voice's good! UBLUES (Singapore/Sarawak) performed after that and then followed by GANGE BRASSBAND (Benin).

For me, the last 2 bands was the hit-of-day because they liven up the atmosphere and you could see lost of people around dancing to the music. I'm totally overwhelmed by the UBLUES drummer and bass guitarist. They got into this kind of situation whereby both of them were competing with each other doing solo, and showing off their skills. Here's where people started standing up, applause and supporting for both of them. Lol. The singer is a local-born Mirian from Lutong!!cool :p

Meanwhile, unfortunately, i just do not know what the GANGES BRASSBAND were singing about as they sang using their own language. But still, they look so active on stage, dancing, stomping the stage, moving around, shouting, and clapping and this made all of us to follow what they were doing. heheh

Everything ended at 1.30am after we helped to carry the instruments of the last band. Had supper and went home. My house will be serving as a 2 night, 3 star hotel for Zack, Iqbal, Ian, Lionel and LC during the period of Jazz Fest. :p

Saturday (13 May 2006)

Morning, woke up at 8.30am. All of us, (including those staying at my house) left for breakfast at arpund 9am. Initially planned to eat at Pete's Delli. Unfortunately, it was closed.

We ended up eating BRUNCH: breakfast+lunch at Park City Everly Hotel. Iqbal treated us for an "All you can EAT!" breakfast at Park City. Iqbal, thanks for the treat!!! :-)
Somehow, it lasted me till dinner!!

Zack joined us working that morning. As scheduled, the respective bands would do the same thing: sound checks and practise.

We were allowed to leave earlier at around evening time coz, there's really nothing much for us to do. Me and Iqbal went to enjoy the breeze by the beach. Found some live star fish. haha

Planned to shower at gym room after that, but darn, it was closed. Rushed back home just to take our shower and head back to Park City. Shucks.

The first band to perform that night was MAMBO JUMBO (UK). They played Latin Songs throughout their performance. Cha cha, Samba, Salsa, rock-n-roll, etc. Hei, u can see everyone dancing!!! We, schleppers followed suit (while on alert on or duty too). It's a pity if you don't dance. haha

Next was SHANGHAI JAZZ ENSEMBLE (China). Well, they kept the atmosphere heat up and boy, the singers (both male and female) were fabulous!! Undeniable they had great voices!! What's cool about this band is that they have a violinist, an extremely good one!! if you did not notice clearly, it somehow sounded the same as those electric guitars!!

FRA FRA SOUND (Netherlands) performed after that. Frankly speaking, i find their performance boring. Really. Even the crowd grew to a slightly complete silence while watching. Their songs just could not reach into us to get us moving. heh.

Finally, the last band LLUIS COLOMA (Spain). What can i say about this band? It was the best band of all the bands performing for that 2 days!!! All the band members are so talented and you can see each of them playing solo with their own instruments: piano, cello, saxephone (3 of them). Except the drummer :-(, too bad. I bet the drummer is good too. True enough, the best part (band) is always saved for the last. heheh. Each songs played were too good and everyone keeps on dancing around, shouting, waving, thoughout their performance. The band members were totally flabbergasted by the crowd's reaction. All of us even shouted "One more!! ONE MORE!!MORE!!" coz we enjoyed their songs really want them to perform more.

I was surprised myself that i was so eager to get their autograph!!! I could not find any paper, so i just use my 'volunteer pass' for them to sign. hahaha. Anyways, it would be a good memorable 'gift' from this Jazz Fest.

When they performed some rock-n-roll songs, we (me, Zack, Iqbal, Lionel) dance our normal rock n roll dance moves. Apparently, a lot of people were impressed at us dancing there!! Including the band members from UBLUES and even LLUIS COLOMA!! However, we did not know much steps and stopped after a while, when people were starting to turn their face onto us. hahaha. Pity huh?

The UBLUES even performed together with LLUIS COLOMA. The coolest part is where the pianist from each of both bands played TOGETHER on one piano!!! I did not stay long and went on to have my supper together with some of the others (volunteers). TOO hungry!!!

After supper, went home, shower, talk talk, sleep.

I must say, it is one of the best live band i've ever experienced!!! The atmosphere is totally different from listening to normal records, especially musics only. If there's another event like this live band, heh, i'll definitely be in (to help)!

Not a 'good' friday for me..

Sigh..i've been in such bad luck recently. Dunno y..

2 days before, my group members screwed up the workbook task 3 which should be handed in on Thursday. Me and Stanley had to stay back in campus, skipped dinner, to redo everything! Initially, me and Stanley would be very busy with our mid-term test and several reports and assignments to do, so our group members were kind enough to start off themselves ( a week before) and then let me and Stanley to do the editing only. Alright, that was nice of them. Maybe it was because of the previous workbook task 2. When doing that workbook, we have planned to compile and edit everything, which was set on a particular day, RIGHT before the date of submission. However, it turned out that they have mis-heard!! and thought we're suppose to start everything THAT DAY. Come on lar, where got people wanna start anything right before the date of submission unless they are really pro at doing last minute thing. Speaking of which, i've been doing this since the day i step into Curtin. haha. Like the phrase go: IF it wasn't for the last minute, nothing would get done. 'Too good to be true'. haha.

Then, on friday, which is a good friday. Plus, a holiday, heheh. The CV! will be helping out in the EXPLORE! Curtin Sarawak Fair, which will be held the next day (Saturday). We'll be doing jobs like, Traditional reception for the VIP's, Dance performance, Campus Tour, Usher, etc.

On that friday, we were suppose to have another final dance practice at campus.

It was 1pm, and i'm off to campus. On the way, i'll be fetching Ian.

Here's the most 'insane' part of my LIFE. I killed a dog along the main Pujut Road (There's a SHELL petrol station along that road). I used to think that it's impossible, but it did happened!

I was not driving that fast, only at 70-80 Km/hr on the fast lane. It was a long-stretch-straight road. A nice sunny day lagik. While driving, then out of no where, an average grown dog just jumped out from the slow lane, dashing as fast as it could to get to the other side. Unfortunately, it appeared right in front of my car!!! I tried to slow down, but still, i'll hit the dog. So i steered slightly to the right, hopefully the dog would stop halfway, bacause there was not many cars. If i steered too much, i'll hit the tree along that road. Or if i brake instantly, my car will definitely loose control and might get into a more worse accident, like hitting other cars or trees.

No choice, i've done the most i could to avoid the dog. But the dog did not stop. Then there was a loud BANG on the bottom left side of my MyVi bumper. I knew i hit the dog. It's head... to be exact. I was both worried of my car and the dog. Because after knocking the dog, i could here some sound on the left side of my car, thinking that could my car bumper had fallen off? Did the car head lights break? Is the plate number still attached there? And the image where there was once, Abel too knocked a dog before, started playing in my mind. His car bumper was terribly damaged, which ALL came off.

I quickly made an emergency stop at a nearby small free space on the side of the road, which i think, is for bus stop. When i got off my car to inspect the damage done, i noticed several car passed by 'slowly'. I could tell they saw what happened.

Luckily, the car bumper was still 'ok'. There were slight cracks on left side the bumper. The worst part is, the 'plastic cover' above around the tyre partially came off, which made the dragging sound. The plate number nearly came off and i had to stick it back. The fog light, was broken, and that would cost the most when this car is sent to be repaired.

This whole thing affected my whole day, even on weekends, during the EXPLORE! Curtin Fair. I was tired and troubled enough and that incident caused me to unable to pay attention on what i'm suppose to do or work on. I got blurred easily too. And 'each second' of me hitting the dog, keeps on playing in my mind. Even till today.... It's like that incident kept on hunting me.

Straight after the accident, i immediately called my mom. She was more worried of the dog!! Initially i was...too, but after knowing the damage done onto my car, heh, i somehow cursed the dog, sorry to say that. But i was really really angered. Why it has to be me??! Why in front of my car??! Why all these have to happen on a good friday??!

What a day...

Hmmm, how to start. I must say, today's my first finally-get-to-rest day after last 2 weeks of helping out in the degree and foundation orientation for the new students. Now i can concentrate more on my studies and have more time to rest.

However, today is not a so-called nice day for me. Well, one thing is that i GO ALL THEWAY TO CAMPUS OF 30 MINUTES DRIVE, JUST TO ATTEND A 30-MINUTEs TUTORIAL!!!What the heck?!Anyway, it's suppose to be 1 hour, but the tutor let us go earlier coz there's not muchof tutorials for the first time after the first lecture.

Now here's the part i really got pissed off even MORE.

Me and my friend, Stanley went to look for one of our lecturer, Professor Alexander.A.k.a 'Albert Einstein'. Just to confirm our tutorial time which have been changed, after being told by our friend.

Went inside, and my friend started asking him. I, on the other hand, have nothing much to do, besides listening. So, i just look around, and notice a few pieces of paper on the table just beside me. It showed the groupings for us, 2nd year students, who are taking Fluid Mechanics 230. I just took the pieces of paper up, and glanced through. I guess it was my bad habit of 'just taking up the stuff i wanna know due to curiousity'. I already knew my grouping, but just wanna look through again la. heh

Then this lecturer who was half way talking with my friend, suddenly voiced "Is that your paper?!"

I was suprised, turned around, and noticed that he was STARING at me with his fierce eyes.

I quickly placed back the papers on the table and said sorry, SORRY!

Man, it did not end there. He continued, "You want to wear this??". He held his shirtand showed it to me.

There's more. He then asked, "Whose room is this?"

Then he pointed to some piece of cloth-wrapper, hanging besides his chair and continued "You want to wear that??"

What the hell??!!! For goodness sake!! I knew i was wrong taking up that pieces of paper without asking!! And i've said SORRY a few times!! But he still continue...

This is the first time i've encountered such fierce 'Albert' / lecturer. Last year, when i look for my lecturers, i still do the same thing, but the lecturers are kind enough to say " Help yourself with it" or ask "Is there anything i can help you with that piece of paper you took from the table?", or at least 'meant' that way or just basically just watch, but did not scold. Not like this lecturer.

Alright, count this lecturer lucky enough because i'm not the type who would revenge. If he came across some 'sam-seng' student, get ready to face the fate. heh. No wonder there's cases in uni where the lecturer's car got scratched; tyre punctured;tyre rim stolen; or even the whole tyre got stolen.

One thing i agree with my friends, or even all students taking engineering course, is that most of our lecturers from the Engineering side totally "s...s". A small numberof them are considered good and nice. But i'm wondering, how come the lecturers in the Business side are much more better, and sociable. Really! And yeah, most of the lecturers teaching engineering course are foreigners.

Back to the 'story'. Here's one problem me and my friend see in the lecturer. He somehow made a 'gap' between him and his students whereby, yeah, he's a Professor and we're just his students. Come on, this is University, and the students here are considered adults. The lecturers should treat us as 'friends' and they are there to assist us in our studies. Why make a GAP there?I believe most of some of the lecturers i've encountered this year are like that. Maybe that's why they hardly smile when meet the students, or won't make the first move to greet their students. They acted professional while teaching, but what's the use? Cold, strict face; low tone-boring voice. Sigh; worst of their, boring presentation

Come on, with such lecturer, whenever we step into the class for our turorial or lecture with a happy and cheerful heart, when we saw their cold faces, everything around us just turn cold too, the mood to study drops, and worse, we do not understand what they were trying to explain, no matter how long or how hard they tried, due to their foreign accent.

One of our lecturer said, try to learn to understand what your lecturer is talking about or get used to their accent and that's our challenge. Alright there's a strong point there, but the problem is time. We took at least one semester to understand what our lecturer is talking about, but then, the lecturer is always changed every semester (some lecturers). How on earth we can learn, when we need to adapt to our different lecturer's accent every semester?!!That's like you are learning nothing much at all!

I'd prefer local lecturer, who's not as qualified as the foreign ones, but at least,we can understand what they are trying to 'project out' to us.

TWISTED LAUGHS

Walking The Dog

A man was flying to overseas and by the time he took off, there had been a 45-minutes delay and everybody on board was ticked.

Unexpectedly, they stopped in a country on the way. The flight attendant explained that there would be another 45-minutes delay, and if they wanted to get off the aircraft, theywould re-board in 30 minutes.

Everybody got off the plane except one gentleman who was BLIND. The man noticed him as he walked by and could tell he had flown before because his seeing eye dog lay quietly underneath the seats in front of him throughout the entire flight.

The man could also tell he had flown this very flight before because the pilot approached him and, calling him by name, said, "Keith, we'll be here for almost an hour. Would you like to get off and stretch your legs?"

Keith replied, "No thanks, but maybe my dog would like to stretch his legs".

PICTURE THIS. All the people in the gate area came to a completely quiet standstill when theylooked up and saw the pilot walk off the plane with the seeing eye dog!!The pilot waseven wearing sunglasses.

People scattered. They not only tried to change planes, they also were trying to change airlines!!

Good Old Fred

An old Fred was in the hospital, near death. The family called his best friend, Peter to stand with them. As Peter stood next to the bed, Fred's condition appeared to deteoriate and he motioned frantically for something to write on.

Peter lovingly handed him a pen and a piece of paper, and Fred used his last bit of energy to scribble a note, then he died.

Peter thought it best not to look at the note at that time, so he placed it in his jacket pocket.
At the funeral, as he was finishing the message, he realised that he was wearing the same jacket that he was wearing when Fred died.

He said, "You know, Fred handed me a note just before he died. I haven't look at it, but knowing Fred, I'm sure there's a word of inspiration there for us all".

He opened the note, and read, "HEY!! You're standing on my oxygen tube!!!"

Joke of the day :-)

Check out this joke. Had a good laugh out of it.haha

The other night I was invited out for a night with the girls. I promised my husband that I would be home by midnight. Well, the hours passed and the margaritas went down way too easily. Around 3 a m , a bit loaded, I headed for home.

Just as I got in the door, the cuckoo clock in the hallstarted up and cuckooed three times. Quickly, realizing my husband would probably wake up,I cuckooed another nine times. I was really proud of myself for coming up with such a quick-witted solution (even when totally smashed) in order to escape a possible conflict with him.

The next morning my husband asked me what time I got in and I told him "Midnight "

He didn't seem pissed off at all. Whew! Got away with that one!

Then he said, "We need a new cuckoo clock "

When I asked him why, he said "Well, last night our clock cuckooed three times, then said, 'Oh shit', cuckooed four more times, cleared its throat, cuckooed another three times, giggled, cuckooed twice more, and then tripped over the coffee table and farted.
